Things to do

MaFaRi beach house is within walking distance from the beach. The sandy beach which is one minute’s walk away has safe swimming for children, a very popular surf spot, as well as rock pools and exciting little coves.

There is also a great fishing spot right in front of the house.

The well known seaside village of Hermanus is only 10 km away. Here you will have access to first-class restaurants, shops, and art galleries, markets, and wine tasting venues.

Nearby, the Hemel-en-Aarde village has a large variety of shops, farm stalls, art galleries and studios, jewelers, restaurants, and a wine route. A great way to spend your day.

What makes Sandbaai unique is its position; sandwiched between the sea and the slopes of the Onrust Mountains between the Onrus River and Hermanus, it is truly one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Golfers can play a round at Hermanus Golf Club or at the Arabella Golf Estate situated at the Western Cape Hotel and Spa, which is a 36 km drive from Hermanus.

Hermanus is an enviro-tourism paradise with fynbos hikes in the mountains of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and whale watching and sundowner cruises departing from the new harbour daily. Great for nature lovers and bird watchers.

Sharks, seals, and penguins can be viewed and visited on specially equipped boats operating from the harbour in Gansbaai, a 53 km drive from Hermanus.

Sandbaai has a convenience store, a petrol garage, and several village style restaurants and art galleries. It is also the gateway to the Hemel-en-Aarde wine route where visitors can visit numerous wine estates to taste and purchase award winning wines produced in this valley.

“After a visit to the beach, it’s hard to believe that we live in a material world.”
